The Danish working week is usually around 37 hours. Typically people start between 8 and 9 in the morning and leave in the late afternoon.

The public sector is the largest employer and accounts for approx. one third of the entire work-force. The public sector is financed by one of the world's highest taxes.

The tax system in Denmark provides finance for free health care, un-employment insurance and the educational system.

Denmark has relatively low unemployment figures and a high minimum wage.

Most Danes are members of a union.
