What is it?

A basic sentence structure is a clause which is not a question and has no sub phrases. It shows you the typical order of words as they would appear in a normal sentence.

The Rules

The basic word order is:

S = Subject (the do'er)
V = Verb (the action)
IO = Indirect Object (and to whom)
DO = Direct Object (what/who is 'actioned')

Examples
Jeg giver hende blomsterne
SVIODO
[lit: I give her the flowers]

If you were to use a preposition as til (to) the two objects would swap places just as in English:

Jeg giver blomsterne til hende
SVDOPrepIO
[lit: I give the flowers to her]
