Danish Dialects
In spite of Denmark being a relatively small country with just 5 million people, the Danish language holds as many as 30+ different dialects!
Standard Danish is called rigsdansk and is based on the dialects in and around Copenhagen.
You can split the many dialects into three main categories: Jysk (Jutish - Jutland), ømål (Island Danish - Funen, Zealand and the islands) and Bornholmsk (Bornholmian - Bornholm).
These can then again be split into several subgroups. For example Island Danish can be split into fynsk (Funen), sjællandsk (Zealand) and københavnsk (Copenhagen) among others.
The Danish taught here on GoodRabbit.co is Standard Danish.
